We played "Escape the music room" games with 2 teams, music instrument bingo, World Instruments Jeopardy, and were introduced to playing modern music with elements of improvisation.

In this group lesson for the Beginner-Intermediate level, we reviewed the music history time line and conducted in-depth research on 12 composers.
Following this, we enjoyed two rounds of Jeopardy focusing on orchestral instruments and composers.
At the end we had one winner who received the main prize (a cool candle) and everyone else received prizes for active participation.
Group lessons are included in the year curriculum for all students and cover music history, theory, rhythm development and ensembles.

π‘ GROUP LESSON IN FEBRUARY π
*This group combined beginner and intermediate levels.
We celebrate several holidays in February, but the most important one is Black History Month!
In this class we learned about three major black composers: Scott Joplin, Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-George, and William Grant Still! We also listened to their music, including flute music. ππΌ
We played Valentine's Rhythm Bingo (made for different levels). πΆπ΅
We composed music with friends through phone messaging, gave it a title and performed it in front of the group. πͺπͺ
We played "Escape Valentine's Music Room" game, solving keys based on music theory, rhythm, dynamics, and instrument familes π¦ΈβοΈπ¦ΈβοΈ
The winners received prizes! ππ₯
All young musicians received Valentine's Day presents! ππ

πΆπ The Advanced group at New England Flute Institute conquered music puzzles and challenges, delving into 'Escape the Renaissance Music Room' and 'The Case of The Missing Key' during a Baroque period adventure.
πͺπ‘ While exploring music theory and history in a vibrant manner, the students also mastered advanced techniques and collaborated in a brilliant ensemble.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:
Yulia Berry is founder of Web Flute Academy, The Babel Flute, The Babel Flute Courses and New England Flute Institute, creator and developer of the popular “All about Flute” Mobile app and the First Global Game for Flutists, highly experienced flutist and mentor teaching at all levels, with a Doctor of Music Arts degree focused in Flute Performance, Pedagogy and Music Education from the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov (Russia).

The advanced group played "Escape the music room" in the Quincy Studio and searched for WHAT COMPOSER stole the music from the music room? π±π΅βοΈπ΅βοΈ
The answer was SHOCKING! π―ππ
They solved it in half of the time! ππππ What an incredible team! Wow!!
Besides the game, we learned about the music of the 20th century, had an introduction to playing chance music, started learning how to write cadenzas, and played ensembles!
